Gannett Fleming TranSystems, a leading engineering and infrastructure solutions provider, has acquired Muller & Muller Ltd. (“M2”), a Chicago-based architecture firm specializing in design excellence. This marks Gannett Fleming’s fourth strategic acquisition in 16 months and its first since merging with TranSystems.
Founded in 1984, M2 provides architecture, planning, and structural engineering services to the aviation, transit and rail, and education end-markets. With a presence in Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, and Peoria, Illinois, M2’s team of approximately 65 talented professionals is known for its award-winning design of transit and aviation environments, including the O’Hare International Airport Terminal 5 expansion, work on both current terminal expansion projects at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, and a legacy of more than 125 station upgrades for Metra and the Chicago Transit Authority.
“Architecturally led design is at the heart of innovative building solutions. M2 has an established legacy of design excellence in the transit and aviation markets throughout the Central and Northwestern U.S.,” said Jim Nevada, Gannett Fleming TranSystems co-president. “Further, M2 and Gannett Fleming TranSystems share a common vision for creative design, exceptional project delivery, and an employee-centered culture.”
“M2’s expertise in modernization, resiliency, sustainability, and inclusive design will complement and bolster our service offerings,” said Tim Rock, Gannett Fleming TranSystems co-president. “With the rising demand for infrastructure improvements driven by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (“IIJA”), evolving regulatory requirements, and client priorities for resilient, efficient buildings, M2’s design expertise strengthens our ability to serve clients across diverse market sectors.”
Mark Stromberg, AIA, M2 managing principal who joins Gannett Fleming TranSystems as architectural leader of the Central and Western U.S., added, “We’re building on the visionary foundation set by Cindy and Jay Muller, embracing their commitment to inclusive, forward-thinking design. Our clients will continue to receive the same reliable, collaborative service we’re known for, now backed by a 5,000-person strong infrastructure powerhouse.”
